Why We Can’t Shut Up About The New Netflix Series ‘Girlboss’

Hot damn, it's finally here.

Has any Netflix release been as highly anticipated as Girlboss?

The series inspired by New York Times best selling book #Girlboss, published in 2014 by online fashion retail founder Sophia Amoruso, is the stuff of binge-watching dreams: there’s a sassy, smart and potty-mouthed lead (Sophia, played by Britt Robertson) who knows exactly what she’s doing – except when she doesn’t – when it comes to spruiking clothes online.

We got a sneak peek of the first two episodes and it is so boss (pun intended). Our own Collective Hub Founder and CEO Lisa Messenger spoke to Sophia Amoruso recently to discuss the show, among other things (more on that later).

“I’m so happy to see Sophia’s story about to hit the screen. She is an incredible businesswoman with so much to impart. I’ll definitely be binge-watching it along with scores of #Girlboss diehards around the world,” says Lisa.

Sophia the Entrepreneur made her fortune flogging clothes on eBay, and later expanded the brand into a fully-fledged fashion e-commerce site, Nasty Gal, all before the age of 27. At its peak, the company did US$200 million in sales, and, in a turn of events, filed for bankruptcy last year. But, thanks to the book that inspired so many by opening up her rags-to-riches journey, her legacy remains – and will continue, thanks to what promises to be a new hit series (did we mention RuPaul makes a cameo, and Charlize Theron is producing?).

The series will premiere on Australian Netflix on April 21 and we cannot wait to devour it whole. It’s particularly thrilling to see such an incredible story of female entrepreneurship finally brought to life. Peep the full trailer below.
