Three juice recipes to swear by this Summer


“Drink ‘em”, I say. They taste so much better this way, and you don’t have to lose hours of your life pushing peas and broccoli around a giant dinner plate in a feeble attempt to make it look like you ate more than you actually did.

I’m not sure about you, but when I part with upwards of $10 for one of these “green juices”, a little part of tight-arse Nicole cringes. I could purchase all of the ingredients, for one week’s worth of smoothies for the same amount. Shop at your local farmers markets instead of the big players and you’ll see what I mean.

Being a tight-arse aside, I do love a green smoothie, or red or orange for that matter. So without further ado, I present to you my all-time favourite combos – designed to nourish, revitalise and inspire. And please, get fancy. These recipes are a guide, not the law, so feel free to play around to whatever tune your taste buds like.


Bottoms up!

Green Piña Colada

300ml (10 fl oz) coconut water

½ cup kale, stalks removed

½ cup baby spinach leaves

Small handful of mint

¼ cup frozen pineapple, chopped

½ frozen banana

Juice of ½ a lime


Peach, Orange + Ginger

300ml (10 fl oz) coconut water

1/2 orange, peeled

1 small peach, peeled and seeded

¼ cup pineapple

2cm (¾”) piece ginger, grated

Juice of ½ a lemon


Zesty Red berry

300ml (10 fl oz) coconut water

½ cup strawberries

½ cup raspberries

1/4 cup ice cubes

Juice of ½ a lime
